Deliverables:

D1.1: Detailed Work Plan

The workplan ensures that project objectives are met within a defined timeframe. It provides a roadmap  outlining the work, by whom and by when as well as the M&E and budget.

D1.2: Monitoring & Evaluation Framework

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework in the EngageSDGs project serves to ensure that the project stays on track, achieves its objectives, and provides accountability and learning opportunities.

D1.3: Documented and approved operating procedures for the Project Management Committee

The operating procedures delineate the structures and reporting functions within the project as well as the internal communication systems identified.

D1.4: Internal and External quality assessment – Reports

The Internal and External Quality Assessment Reports in the EngageSDGs project refer to mechanisms for ensuring the rigor, relevance, and consistency of the project’s outputs and processes.

D2.1: Situation Analysis Report on the use of PAs in the SADC

The Situation Analysis Report on the use of Participatory Approaches (PAs) in the SADC serves as a foundational diagnostic tool within the EngageSDGs project. It maps current practices, identifies weaknesses and strengths and informs the design of the framework in D6.

D3.1: Completed final Integrated Participatory Framework document on the use of PAs towards the achievement of the SDGs

The Completed Final Integrated Participatory Framework (IPF) document in the EngageSDGs project is a strategic and practical tool that guides higher education institutions in the SADC on how to select, implement, and institutionalize appropriate Participatory Approaches (PAs) to enhance their contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through community-engaged teaching, research, and outreach.

D4.1: Developed digital academic repository (on HE engagement and PAs)

The Developed Digital Academic Repository in the EngageSDGs project is a core knowledge management and sustainability tool that provides a centralised, accessible, and collaborative online platform where information, resources, and case studies related to higher education (HE) engagement and participatory approaches (PAs) are stored, curated, and shared across the SADC higher education community.

D4.2: Developed and implemented online learning and teaching solution

The Developed and Implemented Online Learning and Teaching Solution in the EngageSDGs project provides a digital platform for capacity building, enabling higher education institutions across the SADC region to learn, teach, and collaborate on the use of Participatory Approaches (PAs) in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

D5.1: Integrated report on local PAs is developed, based on experiences and insights of SADC partner universities in implementing their pilot projects

The Integrated Report on Local PAs is a synthesis document that captures and analyses the real-world experiences of SADC partner universities in applying Participatory Approaches (PAs) for local engagement aligned with the SDGs. It is based on the pilot projects implemented by the SADC member institutions with support from the EU partners.

D6.1: Final Capacity Development Programme on the use of PAs

The Final Capacity Development Programme on the Use of Participatory Approaches (PAs) is a structured training and professional development initiative aimed at equipping SADC higher education institutions with the knowledge, skills, and tools to effectively implement PAs in support of the SDGs. It provides a comprehensive, finalised training programme designed for academic leaders, faculty, and staff across the region to embed participatory approaches in teaching, research, and community engagement strategies.

The EngageSDGs capacity development programme will soon be made available in synchronous and asynchronous formats. We envisage five modules:

  • Module 1: Introduction to PAs & SDGs
  • Module 2: Foundations & Engaged University Model
  • Module 3: Participatory Methods & M&E
  • Module 4: SADC Case Studies
  • Module 5: Tools: IPF, SDG Toolkit, OERs
Current Stage:

D7.1: Workshop for SADC officials and non-academic institutions

The Workshop for SADC Officials and Non-Academic Institutions is a high-level engagement and dissemination event designed to inform, influence, and involve key policy and societal actors in the uptake and scaling of participatory approaches (PAs) within the SADC region.  It provides a strategic platform to share project findings, demonstrate the value of PAs in higher education engagement, and foster collaboration between universities, government, and civil society for SDGs implementation.

D8.1: Final Project Conference

The Final Project Conference is the culminating event of the EngageSDGs project, designed to showcase achievements, share knowledge, and foster sustainability of participatory approaches (PAs) in higher education for SDGs engagement across the SADC region. It serves as a regional and international dissemination and learning platform to present project results, celebrate institutional successes, and plan the future of collaborative HE engagement in SADC.
